Today I’m going to share with you a program that I absolutely love. The Fooducate app.
I have been using this program for years now in my nutrition practice and I think it’s impacted a lot of lives. I use it personally for myself from time to time, too.
The Fooducate app can assist you in making healthier food choices so you can lose weight, reduce toxicity, and improve your health. If you’re reading this on your computer, you can pull up the desktop program. If you’re on your phone, you can download the Fooducate app.
You can use the Fooducate app to scan food labels, and it will pull up that specific product and provide detailed information about it. It has a very extensive database of food.

The Fooducate app is a helpful tool to guide you in determining healthier food options.
By avoiding artificial ingredients in your diet, you’ll make a switch to a natural diet and your metabolism will be on fire! If you’re ready to lose weight naturally making the switch to a clean diet is one of the best things that you can do.
I get it, when you’re in a rush, traveling, on the go, or just starved, it’s super easy to pick up a packaged food item. The key is to get in the habit of reading every food label not just for the calories, but for the actual ingredients.
That’s why the Fooducate app is a blessing because you can scan any food item to learn more about its actual ingredients.
Scanning Product Barcodes
The beauty of Fooducate is that you can scan a product barcode and receive a personalized nutrition grade. Once you scan a food label Fooducate reflects a rating from A to D. The rating is based on analyzed information found in the product nutrition panel and ingredient list.
Fooducate helps you to become an intelligent consumer and learn what’s in your food.
You’ll discover hidden ingredients like:
- Excessive sugar
- High fructose corn syrup
- Food colorings
- Additives and preservatives
- Artificial sweeteners
I generally recommend the free version, however, the premium feature shows GMOs (genetical modified organisms).
In the video above, I used Spam as an example.
Yes, that’s right! When I think of a heavily process food, I think of Spam. When I first downloaded the app, I was really like a kid in a candy store running down every isle of the grocery store scanning items.
You can bet your bottom dollar the very first item I scanned was Spam!
Spam got a D + and the red explanation points explains why.
You can refer to the highlighted areas and learn about them by clicking on them.

This explains what nitrites and nitrates are, and how they can affect your health. Then it provides resources of studies to back this information up. It does this for every area with a red explanation point.
As you can see, Spam is one of the worst products in the category.
